Scholarly articles are works written by historians called Academic Journal Articles (AJA). Historians love to review the works of other historians. Whenever a new history book or scholarly work is written, the historical profession selects experts in particular fields of studies to determine the value and contribution the new work will have on the academic discipline by writing a review. In this history course, you are a student, but also a scholar of history. You are considered an expert with your own interpretation of history and your task is to write an AJA Review. Please selec AJA below and then write a 2 page (minimum) review. In your review, you may celebrate the author’s accomplishments, but also challenge anything that seems substandard. Style and creativity play a crucial role in the success of your review.

(Instructions for the review)
1.) Please read one of the articles from the list below. Prepare to spend 3-5 hours reading the AJA.
2.) Writing the AJA Review requires the components listed below:
-The author’s purpose in writing the article
-The author’s main thesis
-The author’s challenging of other historical viewpoints
-The evidence utilized by the author (specifically primary sources)
-Identify key details and specific analysis from the AJA
-Personal likes/dislikes and how could the author make the work stronger?
-The recommended audience for the article?
-Explain how this article contributes to understanding the history of California
-Suggested reading, movies, museums, websites to accompany this work (not required, but helpful)
3.) Please be sure your review is in the following format:
-Two full pages (minimum)
-12 point font
-Double spaced
-Essay with multiple paragraphs
